Agarita  (Berberis Trifoliolata) in early March: Exposure 1/400s, f(8) ,iso 200, Nikon D300s, Focal Length 105.0mm  Exposure Bias -4/3EV.

This plant a native of the South Texas Hill Country is one of the earliest bloomers of the year, signifying that the end of winter is near.  The fragrance of the yellow  flowers is quite strong, and the red berries  produced later in the spring can be used for jellies and such.  A useful reference: “Edible and Useful Plants of Texas and the Southwest a Practical Guide” by Delena Tull : 213-215.
